Error: an application of the Lotus game group (main game, MapEditor or ContentEditor) is already running, launch is not possible!

  • 1. Please describe as detailed as possible what you did and which problem that leads to.

I press play on the game with release patch, and get Error: an application of the Lotus game group (main game, MapEditor or ContentEditor) is already running, launch is not possible!

The splash screen opens and loads all workshop items and when it reaches 100% it fails to launch LOTUS.

I do not have map editor, content editor etc opened. I have tried reinstalling, verifying files, running exe as administrator.

    2. Please post your logfile and if possible attach your debug logfile, as well, which have been created during the problem occured.

    Uploaded as attachments.

    Thank you:)

  • This has been a long-known issue (well, at least that the main program sometimes doesn't exit properly if closed). I usually get this if I want to open Content Tool after closing the main program.

What you can do and is 100% working is to open the Task manager (Ctrl+Shift+ESC) and close LOTUS.exe there.

  • Sometimes you get this message also in case of Steam is updating your workshop items. Could this have happened?

    Thank you for the reply.

Unfortunately I don't think Steam is trying to install workshop addons while launching. There is nothing queued or downloading. :(

Thanks for the reply. I understand -- I tried this and did not work either.

I think I will try and unsubscribe from my workshop addons and see if that helps. I will update this thread if it does.

    UPDATE.18/04/2021

I uninstalled everything I was subscribed to, and now the game loads fine. ^^ Perhaps there was a conflict or corruption in the workshop. That is a shame that it wouldn't tell me that in an error message.

Thank you both Marcel and Bzmot for your help.
