I've made a spline I'd like to use as ballast but I cannot see how to get it to be selectable when editing a section of tracks ballast section - is there a tag you have to add manually?

I'm trying to follow this tutorial Tutorial: Übergang Normales Gleis <==> Rillengleis but the translation isn't that good, What height should normal track be set at and what should street track be set to? Do you just have a short section to make the height difference?

How did you solve it?
