Create Traffic Sign

  • Hey,

It still me, Yes, I know I'm a pain in the ass, but once I get started, I won't ask too many stupid questions anymore. :D

I just wondering how did you create the traffic sign, correctly, I mean... I did mine, but it's strange and flat on the ground.

It doesn't appear face to the camera...

    Just look :O

(and yeah, I know, It is huge af, we will fix that later :) )

  • The forum is still there to ask questions ;).

Did you choose the correct settings for forward and up, when exporting from Blender?

Forward has to be "Y Forward" and Up "Z UP"

Edit: Ok, I have to learn how to write faster :'D

  • I don't know how, but by touching this and that on Blender, but there is a problem (which I think is related to LOTUS CT).

As you can see, when I'm in front of the sign, no problem, but when the camera is behind the front, the sign dissapears.

  • Is this sign a single "Plane" or a real 3D-objekt?

If it is real 3D, there is an error with the direction of the faces. (CTRL + N to recalculate the outside should help)

Maybe you should also activate the Option "Backface Culling" in the toolbar in Blender, so you can see objekts like they would be shown in game

Small addition: if it's a simple "Plane", it's normal because the back of an face is not displayed in any game and you can only see it in Blender if "Backface Culling" is not activated.

This is an absolutely normal Behaviour of an 3D Face. You can see through every Face of an Object when you look from behind. So you need a second Face on the Backside of your Sign which is showing the texture outwards.

  • if you see anything on the backside it should be ok, but I realy think your sign is only a single face and not 3D, so you have to add more faces to make it a real 3D-object

I have added an example Blender file you could use to check an see what we are meaning. It is a 3D-object that could be a traffic sign if you change size an add a texture

Oh! I just need to build a 3D object with at least, a little material :O

Ok, I will come again, If I have problem! :)

  • create a new plane with the Backside texture of your sign and put it behind your Front plane, but facing backwards ofcourse. Then you have a Face for each side, the Front and the back.

  • ... In Case that the Sign looks the Same on both sides, yes. Backsides of Roadtraffic Signs are grayish in most cases.

EDIT: Etrusan wrote "[...] and change the UVs", so i guess the texture part is meant. So you can choose the Texture of the Backside here.

Should be the quickest way for you to follow Etrusans instructions.

  • Indeed, It was the 2.3 paragraph which helps me :)

    It works well

    Ty!

EDIT: Ultimate question, I would like to round the edge to pass from hard cube to more soft cube.

I found on Google something: Ctrl + Shit + B, but it looks weird, on vertex, face, or edge, everything give a result as this:

Do you know how to fix it?

(I've also tried to extrude material from the texture base, but, It wasn't a success)
